FireFox 0.9.3, Same Issue

Just installed the latest FireFox build, version 0.9.3. Hoped it would resolve the issue with running it as the default browser on Windows XP, but it doesn't, at least for me. I still get double instances. Too bad.

I think you can find a workaround here: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=246078

I solved it by downloading Mozilla and setting it as a default browser, then opening Firefox, it prompted me if I wanted Firefox to be the default browser, said yes, and the problem was solved. At least that worked for me don't know if it'll always work..

That got it! Thanks so much. FireFox is now my primary browser. Sweet.

Im still running .8 and Im not having any problems w/ it so I think I will just hold out till the big 1.0 release.

Hi Kris,

I was on .8 for a long time too, but moved up to .9 for some of the improvements and the security patches. The only real problem has been this double-instance issue, and the Registry fix was simple and effective.

Btw, does anyone know if there's a schedule for the 1.0 release, or are they just working on making it better/stable in hopes of someday having a 1.0 candidate?

The idea was for 0.9 to be feature complete release, and make the 1.0 realese a polished product. There's a roadmap at mozilla.org:
